Nissestyrelsen is the Danish governmental agency established for the regulation and monitoring of fairytale creatures, although with a specific focus on the smaller trick-playing species of nisse or nisse known as nisser.
It was originally formed in November 1896 as part of Tage Reedtz-Thott's government, under the direct control of the Prime Minister.
Since its original establishment, Nissestyrelsen has been moved under the rubric of various ministries and is today part of the Ministry of the Interior and Health
